Very often we get requests to check if some
marriage agency exists and if its business
is officially registered.
Ukraine law is far from perfection and at
the moment there’s no legal basement for official
registration of dating business in Ukraine.
Simply it’s huge god-forsaken hole in the
law of Ukraine. Getting of bank wire transfers
or charging credit cards is not available
without officially registered business. Therefore
marriage agencies register their business
as “translation services”, “travel services”,
“internet technologies”. This way they are
available to charge your cc and get payments
by bank wire transfer from customers and to
inform tax inspection that it is payment for
“translation services” while you order trip
arrangements or “trip arrangements” while
you order translation services etc. These
facts do not mean that you’ll be scammed by
dating agencies. It means that Ukraine law
is not good and marriage business tries to
be flexible to the law of Ukraine. Sometimes
Ukraine based marriage agencies register business
in other country. This way you’ll make payments,
for example, to US but services will be offered
in Ukraine.
Sometimes registered name of marriage agency
differs from that one which is mentioned on
the website of dating agency. Do not afraid
of these agencies. It doesn’t mean that these
agencies are scammers. The example is dating
agency “Brides from Ukraine” may have official
registered business name: “James Jackson”.
Registered type of business may be Internet
technologies. (“James Jackson” may simply
not attract customers. Therefore owners invent
romantic names).
So in this article I answer the most often
asked question: any marriage agency which
is based in Ukraine is not officially registered.
If you like to check if business like “translation
services” or “travel services” is officially
registered you shouldn’t engage private detective
for that. Just simply ask them if they accept
payment by bank wire transfer. Positive response
will mean that business is registered. How
